Earlier this year I tried another pair of sunglasses that had a video camera in them and was for the most part impressed with the video quality, especially in brighter conditions.  Unfortunately, my pair had a defect and I sent them back but I’m still in the market for a good quality pair of video camera sunglasses.

Advantages of cameras that attach to or are built into glasses over GoPro or other action cameras is that they don’t require any attachments, most cost much less than GoPro cameras for sure and they require no use of your hands like camcorders.

They’re also good for videos in which you’re trying to record what you’re looking at or doing with your hands, as is necessary for a DIY or product review video.  It’s not always practical to use a tripod and I just don’t like having an action camera strapped to my head.

So even though I didn’t have so great of luck with the first pair of video sunglasses I tried, (the video was good but the record button became defective), I’ve been keeping my eye on other sunglass video cameras and one that looks promising is the [amazon_textlink asin=’B07CBRRY3N’ text=’GoGloo 10MP Video Camera’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thejournier-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’bd66c707-756b-11e8-8d26-7393d5da21b2′] on Amazon.

A feature that I particularly like about these glasses is that the lenses are removable which I need since I wear prescription glasses.  With the other pair I tried I could wear them over my glasses and they worked but on cloudy days I didn’t need dark lenses.

Additionally, different color lenses, including clear ones for nighttime recording or for more overcast days are available to order.

Another feature I like, that was missing from my first pair is that you can press a button and see how much battery is remaining with a row of indicator lights.  Also, the button for starting and stopping a recording produces a vibration, so you’ll know if you’ve really pressed the button while still wearing the glasses.  There are also  color coded lights to let you know when it’s recording.

It seems like GoGloo put a lot of thought into the design and functionality of the product.

Most sunglass video cameras aren’t so good at macro shots and therefore may not have the clearest video of objects closer than 3 or 4 feet.  I’ll have to wait and see how good these do.  However, wide angle lenses are very good for landscape views and if they have good enough light sensitivity, do okay for indoor shots as well.

This particular model of GoGloo glasses also doesn’t have a fisheye lens which I prefer, especially for those indoor shots or even when I’m walking through the woods. I don’t want nearby walls and trees looking distorted in the video.

This is a pair that I will be reviewing soon but I wanted to go ahead and share some information about them since I have been contacted by some of you interested in such a video camera.

So far, the reviews are very good an Amazon and they seem to be legit.  You have to be careful believing reviews on Amazon sometimes; however, there are sample videos that people have shared which are extremely helpful and the videos look good.

When I receive them, I’ll be taking them out bike riding and on the hiking trails and I’ll be sure to share my experiences with you and I hope that I can personally recommend them too.  Look for the review and sample videos soon.
