Tomorrow, September 1st, starts my favorite time of year to go bike riding in Illinois. Fall is such a wonderful time to explore new trails. Part of that experience has been my participation in the Great Cycle Challenge, which raises money for childhood cancer research. September is childhood cancer awareness month, and I will be riding in memory of a local friend, Jasper, who lost his life far too soon at age 3.
Anyone can join the challenge online by setting yourself a personal ride target, and then logging those miles through the Great Challenge app, or on your favorite GPS app or device and manually log the miles online. A spin bike can also be used for indoor rides.
You can ask your friends and family to support you by making donations, and/or you can donate funds yourself. There is no minimum, unless you want the t-shirt, and who doesn’t want a cool t-shirt to show support for such a great cause?
Lectric Bikes has also joined the challenge, and you can join their team through the Great Challenge app. Way to go for Lectric, because they have quite a following!
Anyway, I encourage you to ride for a purpose in September and raise money for research to end childhood cancer.
