Samsung Gear Sport Battery Drain Cause

Samsung Gear Sport

This past week I noticed that my Samsung Gear Sport’s battery was draining much more quickly than usual.  It wasn’t even lasting through 12 hours and I thought possibly it was because of the watch face I was using but I’d been using it for a couple weeks and hadn’t had the problem before.

Then I realized that I had used Bluetooth headphones with it earlier in the week and even though the headphones were turned off and the watch wasn’t anywhere near them most of the time, it appears that the watch was still trying to connect to them or thought it was connected.

I’m not sure what the root cause is but turning off the watch and connecting my headphones to another Bluetooth device seemed to have done the trick.

The battery on my Gear Sport is back to behaving as usual.

So, if your Samsung Gear Sport’s battery is draining quickly and you’ve connected them with a Bluetooth headset this might be the cause.

This hadn’t occurred before when I had connected with  Bluetooth headphones.  Right now my Gear Sport is running Tizen version 3.0.0.2 which is the latest version as of the date I’m writing this, September 8th 2018.

Anyway, I’m happy that I seemed to have fixed the battery issue but hopefully a software update will address this soon because it appears like there’s some glitch with Bluetooth connections right now.
